17th November, TWITs meet BOW, St Steven’s Tavern. The Bow Group kindly invited us along to hear John Howell MP, recently elected Member of Parliament for Henley, speak and take some pretty testing questions from the floor; ‘what’s your favourite biscuit?’. Afterwards, the TWITs worked the room and after some serious socialising, impressive quaffing and as voices became louder and gesticulations more flamboyant, it was decided it was time to hit the next venue. The mighty pub crawl began, kick started with the TWITs Around the World Sambuca Challenge. We also managed to squeeze in a spot of sightseeing; Trafalgar Square where we befriended a lovely bunch of UCL raving Tories. After more pubbing with our new acquaintances we headed for the Sports Bar for a bit of disco fever. It was here that our president, Mr Johnson, sustained a minor injury and subsequently found out that the club wasn’t really ‘into’ first aid. Nevertheless, Mr Johnson, never one to leave a pumping party, carried on. I realised at around 3am that the call for fish and chips was well over due and so the hunt began. We found a Chinese ‘restaurant’, pretty good substitute and all 8 remaining hardcore, young guns piled in and put their orders in. It later transpired that in my eagerness to satisfy my hunger I had ordered three meals. It was an impressive spread. Luckily the other chaps helped alleviate the situation. After the meal, 6 remained. We enjoyed a leisurely stroll to Regent’s Park, little more sightseeing and then it was farewell.
Yet another fantabulous evening. It was great to meet the Bow group and the other strays we picked up along the way… We look forward to future events together!! Photos to follow…
